FLANR is my simplified version of flâneur: ‘strolling’ or ‘street walker’. Flânerie, is the activity of the flâneur, that is, wandering the streets, strolling without direction, without goal, open to all the vicissitudes and impressions that come along.
For Walter Benjamin the flâneur was the essential figure of the modern urban spectator, an amateur detective and city researcher.
After 20 years of experience I like to keep learning new things, keep a curious mind and be an observer. I think these qualities are indispensable for a designer. That’s why I like the figure of the flâneur. Someone who explores the environment with curious eyes, who observes people’s behavior and the way they relate to each other, because it is for the people I design for.
